COVID-19 UPDATE - NEDCC Facility Reopened May 19

On May 18, 2020, after 55 days under the COVID-19 order to close nonessential businesses, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts entered Phase I of reopening. In terms of which businesses may reopen during Phase I, the Commonwealth’s policy now focuses on risk assessment rather than categorizing operations as “essential” versus “nonessential.”

NEDCC meets the OSHA standards for a “Low Risk” operation and, because we are among the Phase One business sectors and have developed and implemented policies and procedures to fully comply with the Commonwealth’s “Mandatory Safety Standards for Workplaces,” we are once again open for business.

However, while our staff may return to work, the Commonwealth’s safety standards require us to minimize face-to-face contact with clients. Consequently, we encourage clients to ship their materials to us and allow us to consult with them about their conservation treatment and digitization needs by phone, video chat, or email. For local clients who prefer to drop off their materials, we have developed a protocol for Curbside Service, which you can access here.

Thank you to those of you have expressed concern for our safety. Please rest assured that NEDCC will continue to closely follow all of the recommendations (current and evolving) of federal, state, and local health authorities in doing our part to protect the health and well-being of our staff, clients, and the general public. And, we will continue to be offering those services that can be provided electronically (e.g., 24/7 Emergency Hotline,Preservation Training, etc.).

If you have any questions about current or future projects, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.

A free shuttle bus runs between the parking lot and the buildings every 10–15 minutes.
